DELL Error Code W.01

Error W.01 indicates a paper jam has occurred specifically within or immediately after Tray 1 (the multipurpose or manual feed tray) of your DELL printer.

   Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet to ensure safety before proceeding.

   Carefully open the front cover or access panel that provides access to Tray 1 and the initial paper path. Consult your printer's manual if unsure.

   Gently pull out Tray 1 completely. Inspect the tray area and the paper feed rollers for any visible pieces of paper, torn edges, or foreign objects.

   If you see jammed paper, grasp it firmly with both hands and slowly pull it in the direction of the paper path. Avoid tearing the paper, as small pieces left inside can cause future jams.

   Check the paper stack in Tray 1. Ensure it's not overfilled, the paper guides are snug against the edges of the paper (but not too tight), and the paper is flat and not curled or wrinkled.

   Remove all paper from Tray 1, fan the stack to separate sheets, and reload it, ensuring it's within the recommended capacity and type for that tray.

   Close all access panels securely. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

If, after following all DIY steps, the W.01 error persists, or if you encounter resistance when trying to remove jammed paper and fear damaging internal components, it's time to call a specialist. This also applies if you suspect a mechanical failure with the paper pickup rollers, sensors, or if there's a foreign object lodged deep inside that you cannot safely reach. Persistent jams often indicate worn-out rollers or a more complex internal issue that requires professional diagnosis and repair.
